The 19th Meeting of the ASEAN-Japan Joint Cooperation Committee (AJJCC)
2025/6/26

On 26 June, the 19th ASEAN-Japan Joint Cooperation Committee (AJJCC) was held at the ASEAN Headquarters/Secretariat in Jakarta. H.E. KIYA Masahiko, Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, and H.E. Amb. Gerard Ho, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Singapore to ASEAN as Country Coordinator for Japan, co-chaired the meeting, having attendance from Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States and delegates, as well as Mr. Pham Minh Thu, Assistant Director, External Relation Division 1 from the ASEAN Secretariat. In addition, Mr. HIRABAYASHI Kunihiko, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Japan Centre, and Mr. SHIMOYAMA Masaya, Executive Vice President of the Japan Foundation, attended this AJJCC to brief the cooperation between their respective institutions and ASEAN.
AJJCC this time was an important opportunity to follow up the Joint Vision Statement and its Implementation Plan, which were adopted in the 50th year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation at the Commemorative Summit in 2023. Since their adoption, 108 of the 130 items (approximately 83%, 40 out of 44 areas) of the implementation plan have already been addressed. This result is a testament to the seamless progress of close cooperation between ASEAN and Japan thus far. The meeting also discussed regional and international issues.
Together with ASEAN, Japan will continue to deepen and expand cooperation as “Trusted Partners”.
