AYO’s Commemorative Event for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation (Attendance by Ambassador Kiya)

On 17 March, ASEAN Youth Organisation (AYO) hosted "ASEAN Youth Economic Forum 2023 ", supported by the ASEAN Secretariat, METI, AMEICC as a hybrid event in Jakarta to commemorate the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation (50th Anniversary). Ambassador Kiya attended the event.
 
This event focuses on the circular economy, which is one of the priority issues for both ASEAN and Japan. The 20 young participants with diverse experiences from Japan, ASEAN and Timor-Leste, selected from approximately 400 applicants, are going to exchange views with experts and visit relevant facilities from 16-20 March, then formulating and presenting policy recommendations on the promotion of circular economy on 20 March.
 
In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Kiya said that this year marks the 50th anniversary and that Japan would continue to stand by ASEAN in addressing its priority issues, including growth and circular economy, as it had done for the past 50 years.
 
Ambassador Kiya expressed his hope that the participants in the event, including the selected 20 young people, would become leaders in the efforts for a better world and future, including the realisation of the “ASEAN-Japan Economic Co-Creation Vision,” being formulated by METI, JETRO and the business community, including the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI).
