SEMINAR ASEAN-JAPAN 40 YEARS OF COOPERATION AND BEYONDDecember 24, 2013 On December 19, Mission of Japan to ASEAN and ASEAN Studies Center Gadjah Mada University held a joint-seminar entitled “ ASEAN-Japan 40 years of cooperation and beyond” at the Faculty of Social and Political Science, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta. It was a part of this year’s commemorative activities of the 40th year of Friendship and Cooperation between ASEAN and Japan. Approximately 110 students attended the seminar. The lecture from Mission of Japan to ASEAN was delivered by Minister - Councellor, Ms. Takako Ito. Ms. Ito explained that ASEAN and Japan have strategic importance in key areas to deepen their mutual cooperation. The relationship of both sides should be further strengthened not only in the economic sector but also in other areas including in people-to-people connectivity sector through various exchange programs such as JENESYS, cultural exchange, etc. Ms.Ito also mentioned the result of the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit Meeting which was held in Tokyo on 14 December 2013. The Vision Statement on ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation – Shared Vision, Shared Identity, Shared Future states that ASEAN and Japan reaffirmed that ASEAN and Japan strengthen the partnership in the following four areas: partners for peace and stability, partners for prosperity, partners of quality of life, and heart-to-heart partners. Mission of Japan to ASEAN intends to continue outreach activities to raise awareness of people in ASEAN about ASEAN-Japan relations. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
