Visit of H.E. Mr. Le Leong Minh, Secretary-General of ASEAN to JAPAN

H.E. Mr. Le Leong Minh, Secretary-General of ASEAN visited Japan from 5 to 8 November 2013 as a guest of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Starting with the courtesy call on Japanese Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Shinzo Abe, the Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Toshimitsu Motegi, Minister of Economic, Trade and Industry, and Mr. Yoshitaka Shindo, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communication to exchange views on a wide range of issues regarding ASEAN-Japan relations. Secretary-General Minh also met with the business leaders from Keidanren and Japanese Chamber of Commerce, visited Japan International Cooperation Centre (JICA) Headquarters as well as ASEAN-Japan Centre, met with ASEAN Tokyo Committee (composed of Ambassadors from ASEAN Member States in Japan), delivered a statement at Japan Press Club, and had a meeting with Mr. Ryotaro Sugi, Special Ambassador for Japan and ASEAN.
Having in mind that the Commemorative Summit to mark the 40th year of Friendship and Cooperation will take place in Tokyo this December, Secretary-General Minh expressed his gratitude to Japan’s long-time cooperation with ASEAN, and appealed the importance of cooperation between Japan and ASEAN towards the ASEAN Community building in 2015 and in line with the Post-2015 vision by ASEAN Community.
