Graduation Ceremony of the 12th Batch of Attachment Programme
For Junior Diplomats from CLMV Countries at the ASEAN Secretariat

    On Tuesday, 25 June, four junior diplomats from CLMV countries attended the Graduation Ceremony to complete the Attachment Programme at the ASEAN Secretariat. These four junior diplomats were the 12th batch of this programme, which was financially supported by the Japan-ASEAN integration Fund (JAIF). In this ceremony, the ASEAN Secretary-General, H.E. Mr. Le Luong Minh and the Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, H.E. Mr. Kimihiro Ishikane awarded certificates of completion and a gift of “furoshiki” to the junior diplomats. Ambassadors and the officials from the Permanent Mission to ASEAN CLMV countries and officials from the Mission of Japan to ASEAN witnessed the occasion. ASEAN Secretariat officers, JAIF Management Team members and attachment officers currently posted at the Secretariat through another Attachment Programme under JAIF were also at present.


    Secretary-General Le Luong Minh commended the success of the programme and valued the programme for its contribution to narrowing the development gap in ASEAN. Ambassador Kimihiro Ishikane congratulated the junior diplomats for successfully completing the programme and expressed his high hope for their contribution toward ASEAN Community Building.


    The 12th Batch of the Attachment Programme was dispatched to the ASEAN Secretariat for one-year-duration. By the end of the programme, they visited Japan to meet officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and ASEAN-Japan Center in order to deepen their understanding of mutual relationship between ASEAN and Japan.


    Government of Japan intends to continue activities to support ASEAN’s efforts to narrow the development gap in ASEAN.
