Awarding ceremony for the winner of the logo and catchphrase competition for the “40th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation”

    On 19th November, the awarding ceremony for a Cambodian resident Mr.Ratanaksamrith You, winner of the logo and catchphrase contest for the 40th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, was held at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The ceremony was conducted on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit and related Summits held from 18th to 20th November in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. From the Japanese side, H.E. Mr. Tsuyoshi SAITO, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary of Government of Japan and H.E. Mr. Kimihiro ISHIKANE, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to ASEAN attended the ceremony. From the ASEAN side, H.E. Mr. Nyan Lynn, Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Political-Security Community, H.E. Mr.Kan Pharidh, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Cambodia to ASEAN and the Chairman of the Committee of the Permanent Representatives, and Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States also shared a joy with the winner.


    The ceremony started with a congratulatory speech made by Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, Mr.SAITO, followed by the announcement of the winner and prize-winning work for both logo and catchphrase competitions. Ambassador ISHIKANE then handed Mr.Ratanaksamrith, winner of the logo competition and runner-up of catchphrase competition, a certificate with joint signatures of Ambassador ISHIKANE and Ambassador Kan. Commemorative gifts were also presented by Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Mr. SAITO from the Japanese side and Ambassador Kan from the ASEAN side. After all these ceremonial exchanges, Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Nyan Lynn delivered congratulatory remarks on behalf of ASEAN. The ceremony was closed with words of thanks from Mr.Ratanaksamrith and photo session with all the attendees in front of the logo panel.


    The event drew a lot of attention from the media and a number of media covered the ceremony. Many interviews and photo shooting were also taken place. The winning logo and catchphrase for the 40th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation will be used by both Japan and ASEAN Member States throughout 2013.
