Japan-ASEAN Youth Exchange for Young Footballers

15th June, 2012

Young football players under the age of 14 years old (U-14) from five ASEAN member states (Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore) will visit Japan from 17 to 24 June in order to participate in the exchange program with Japanese U-14 football players.

This youth exchange project is carried out in the framework of the JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network for Exchange of Students and Youths) Programme. In 2009, U-15 football players from the Mekong region (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam) and Thailand visited Japan under this programme. This time, the remaining five countries are invited.

During the stay in Japan, they will have friendly matches with Japanese U-14 football teams, participate in the education scheme “Kokoro Project” and watch J-League (Japan’s professional football league) matches.

It is expected that this project will promote friendly exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and ASEAN youths.
