JENESYS 2.0: Social Community, 21st Batch (Theme: “Disaster Management”) (Philippines)

    From 29 September to 7 October, 37 university students from the Philippines are visiting Japan as part of a programme on the theme of “Disaster Management” under JENESYS 2.0.


    Participants first visited Tokyo to visit the Panasonic Center and the Honjo Life Safety Learning Center (Honjo Bosaikan). They will then visit Shizuoka Prefecture to observe a sea wall in Hamamatsu City and a tsunami evacuation tower in Kakegawa City, and to visit Hamamatsu City’s Civic Collaboration Center to learn about disaster management at the community level. Participants will have the opportunity to feel the attractions of the regions on various aspects by exchanging views with local residents through university visit and homestay programme, focusing on the programme’s theme i.e. “Disaster Management”.


    Through this exchange programme, the youths from the Philippines are expected to deepen their understanding of and interest in “Japan brand” and Japanese values including Japan’s strengths and attractions and to actively disseminate their experiences in their country.
