29 September 2014

From 24 September to 1 October, 21 university students from Lao PDR are visiting Japan as part of a programme on the theme of “Youth Volunteer” under JENESYS 2.0.

Participants first visited Tokyo to observe Harajuku which is famous for its pop culture, learn about Japan’s history at the Edo-Tokyo Museum, and to observe Japan’s advanced technology at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. Then they visited Okinawa Prefecture where they had the opportunity to have first-hand experience of the highly acclaimed “Cool Japan” by exchanging views with Japanese high-school students, learning about the social contribution of the Churaumi Aquarium, and making kaleidoscopes from ryukyu glass.

Through this exchange programme, the youths from Lao PDR are expected to deepen their understanding of and interest in Japanese values including its strengths and attractions, and to actively disseminate their experiences in their country.
