JENESYS 2.0 ASEAN Short-term invitation – Election visit programme, 15th Batch

    From 3 to 10 September, 52 participants from Timor-Leste and 9 ASEAN member states are visiting Japan under JENESYS 2.0 to learn about Japan’s electoral system.


    Participants first visited Tokyo to deepen their understanding of Japan’s electoral system at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies as well as to deepen their understanding of the structure and the electoral system of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly through a visit to the Assembly and the Election Administration Commission. Then they will be divided into 2 groups to visit Atami City in Shizuoka Prefecture and Iiyama City in Nagano Prefecture to observe the mayoral elections as well as to experience the regions’ traditional performing arts and crafts.


    Through this programme, participants are expected to learn about Japan’s electoral system, to deepen their understanding of the diffusion and firm establishment of democracy, as well as to enhance their understanding of and interest in Japan and to actively disseminate their experiences in their country.
