JENESYS 2.0: Badminton Exchange (India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Viet Nam)

10 June 2014

From 10 to 17 June, about 125 youths from five Asian countries (India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Viet Nam) will visit Japan with the theme of “Badminton Exchange” under JENESYS 2.0. The programme aims to provide a “Cool Japan” experience through badminton.

Participants will first visit Tokyo to watch Japan’s and world’s top badminton players compete in the Yonex Open Japan 2014 organized by the Nippon Badminton Association, and to take part in friendly matches with Japan’s young players. Participants will then be divided into five groups—two to Niigata and Gunma Prefectures, three to Miyagi and Iwate Prefectures—to do factory visit at a badminton-related company, to observe a local industry, and to exchange views with Japanese high-school and university students.

The programme is expected to enable youths from participating countries to deepen their understanding of and interest in “Japan brand” and Japanese values including its strength and attractions, and to disseminate their experiences in their countries.
