JENESYS 2.0: Disaster Management Students and Youth Exchange (5th Batch )2 June 2014 From 27 May to 4 June, 35 university students from the Philippines are visiting Japan as part of a programme on the theme of “Disaster Management” under JENESYS 2.0. Participants first visited Sendai City in Miyagi Prefecture, which is a model city for disaster management, where they learned about the measures for disaster management. Then they visited Ishinomaki City in Miyagi Prefecture, one of the affected areas during the Great East Japan Earthquake, to learn about its endeavours for recovery. Participants also observed the Edo-Tokyo Museum and Meiji Shrine in Tokyo to feel the attractions of Japanese culture on various aspects. The programme is expected to enable youths from the Philippines to deepen their understanding of and interest in “Japan brand” and Japanese values including its strengths and attractions, to disseminate their experiences in their country. |
