JENESYS 2.0: History and Culture 10th Batch (Myanmar Ethnic Minorities) Students and Youth Exchange2 June 2014 From 27 May to 3 June, about 30 university students from Myanmar—including those with ethnic minority background—are visiting Japan as part of a programme on the theme of “Myanmar Ethnic Minorities” under JENESYS 2.0. Participants first visited Tokyo to observe a historical and cultural facility. Then they visited Nagano Prefecture. In order to have a first-hand experience with the “Cool Japan” that is highly acclaimed and attracting a large attention in many fields, the participants will have an opportunity to feel the attractions of each prefecture on various aspects under the programme’s theme through visiting a local government and a local company, visiting popular sights, having cultural experience as well as exchanging views with local residents. The programme is expected to enable youths from Myanmar to deepen their understanding of and interest in “Japan brand” and Japanese values including its strengths and attractions, to disseminate their experiences in their country, and through strengthening of the ties among the participants of the group, to contribute to national reconciliation in Myanmar. |
