Graduating Ceremony for the First Batch of the Training Program on “Attachment Officers from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam for AEC and ASCC involvement at the ASEAN Secretariat”21 March 2014
On 18 March, 8 officers from relevant ministries of the governments of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam (CLMV), who were the first batch of participants of the JAIF project on “Attachment officers from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam for AEC and ASCC involvement at the ASEAN Secretariat”, attended the graduating ceremony held at the ASEAN Secretariat. At the ceremony, H.E. Mr. Koichi Aiboshi, Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, H.E. Dr. Lim Hong Hin, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN and H.E. Mr.Kan Paridh, Permanent Representative of Cambodia to ASEAN offered their congratulatory messages, followed by awarding of completion certificates to the participants. The ceremony was also attended by approximately 50 people, namely the Permanent Representatives and officials of CLMV countries and Japan, officers of ASEAN Secretariat, members of JAIF Management Team and attachment officers dispatched under the other training course funded by the JAIF. In his speech, Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Lim Hong Hin emphasized the contribution of this training program to ASEAN’s effort in narrowing the development gap and expressed his sincere gratitude for Japan’s continuous and generous support in this area. Ambassador Aiboshi congratulated the successful completion of the training and wished the participants to play a leading role in their home countries by making good use of knowledge, experience and human network they acquired during the training program. The first batch of participants of the training program was attached to relevant divisions related to ASEAN Economic Community and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community in the ASEAN Secretariat for one-year duration. By the end of the program, they visited Japan to meet officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and ASEAN-Japan Center in order to deepen their understanding of mutual relationship between ASEAN and Japan. |
