H.E. Kazuo Sunaga, the new Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN presented the Credential to H.E. Le Luong Minh, Secretary-General of the ASEAN

On 31th March 2016, H.E. Kazuo Sunaga, the new Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, presented the Letter of Credential to H.E. Le Luong Minh, Secretary-General of ASEAN at the ASEAN Secretariat. Hence, Ambassador Sunaga has officially assumed the post of the Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN.


Ambassador Sunaga stated that it was an honour to be appointed as Japan’s Ambassador to ASEAN in this important first year after the establishment of the ASEAN Community. He then stated that next year, ASEAN would celebrate its 50th anniversary since its founding and he looked forward to seeing ASEAN develop even further in the coming future as Japan strongly contributed towards deepening the further ASEAN integration, making the best use of human resources of Mission of Japan to ASEAN and the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).


Secretary-General Minh congratulated Ambassador Sunaga on his assumption of office. He also stated that ASEN member countries would continue to work closely with Japan in accordance with Vision Statement adopted at Japan-ASEAN commemorative Summit in 2013.


Both sides also exchanged views on East Asia Summit (EAS) and regional issues.
