ASEAN Youth Creative Industry Fair

On 29 to 30 August ASEAN Youth Creative Industry Fair was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, organized by University of Indonesia’s UKM Center with the cooperation of Ministry of Cooperative and SME, Republic of Indonesia, ASEAN Secretariat and Mission of Japan to ASEAN. The opening event on 28 August was attended by Ms. Yukiko Okano, Minister-Counsellor of Mission of Japan to ASEAN, Mr. Basuki Tjahaya Purnama, Governor of DKI Jakarta, Mr. Meliadi Sembiring, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Cooperative and SME Republic of Indonesia and Mr. Ho Quang Trung, Director of Market integration directorate, ASEAN Secretariat. Other attendees included those participating in the Fair, Japan Foundation (JF), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), University of Indonesia and other stakeholders from ASEAN and Japan.


The Fair aims to nurture ASEAN young entrepreneurs and promote exchanges between them in the creative industries utilizing the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). Booths were installed by ASEAN creators in the fields of fashion, crafts, games and movie and contest, workshops and seminars were held with leading experts from ASEAN and Japan in these fields. The Fair attracted many visitors and participants from the public.


In line with the vision statement of the Japan-ASEAN Friendship and Cooperation which was adopted in 2013, Japan will continue to promote exchanges of people between ASEAN and Japan through various activities on culture and art.
