The Second Joint Meeting of the Japan Task Force and the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating CommitteeOn 11 November 2011, the Japan Task Force to support ASEAN connectivity and the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee (ACCC) joined together in Bali for their second joint meeting. Among the members of the Japan Task Force led by Mr. Kimihiro Ishikane, the Deputy Director-General of Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were officials from Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Land Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism as well as representatives from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) and Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI). H.E. Mr. Takio Yamada, Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN also attended the Meeting. At the meeting, both sides discussed way of implementation of each connectivity support project proposed by Japan Task Force in the first joint meeting last July (Study on RoRo network and short-sea shipping, developing and operating MRAs and establishing common rules for standards and conformity assessment procedures for automotives, and development of ASEAN Smart Network), as well as financial mechanism to implement connectivity projects. In addition, the representatives of Keidanren and JCCI introduced perspectives of Japanese industry toward strengthening of the ASEAN connectivity.
