The Third Meeting of ASEAN-Japan Joint Cooperation Committee (AJJCC)The third meeting of ASEAN-Japan Joint Cooperation Committee was held on 29-30 September, 2011, in Manado, Indonesia. From the Japanese side, H.E. Mr. Takio Yamada, Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN and other officials participated in the Meeting. From the ASEAN side, H.E. Mr. Ngurah Swajaya, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia to ASEAN and the Chair of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) as well as all other Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States, followed by their mission members, participated in the meeting together with the officials of ASEAN Secretariat. In the Meeting, the ASEAN-Japan cooperation after the ASEAN-Japan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in July was reported, with a particular focus on disaster management and ASEAN connectivity. As for disaster management, Japan’s assistance to AHA Centre, Disaster Management Network for the ASEAN Region, and future hosting by Japan of international conferences on disaster management were introduced to the meeting. With regard to ASEAN connectivity, it was reported that the 5th meeting of Japan Task Force on Assisting ASEAN Connectivity was held in July, that JICA, ASEAN Secretariat and Keidanren co-hosted a symposium on ASEAN connectivity in Tokyo in September, and there will be symposia on ASEAN connectivity in Singapore in October and in Bali in November. The Meeting also discussed some issues related to the funding necessary for implementing specific projects. Furthermore, the meeting heard the progress on the preparation of ASEAN-Japan Joint Declaration and Plan of Action, and discussed a future work plan. ![]() |
