ASEAN Plus Three and ASEAN-Japan Ministerial Meetings on Transnational Crime

On October 21, 2026, the Sixteenth ASEAN Plus Three Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (16th AMMTC+3) and the Eleventh ASEAN-Japan Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (11th AMMTC+Japan) were held in Manila, the Philippines. Mr. Tachikawa Koichi, Deputy Commissioner General, National Police Agency, attended as the representative of the Japanese government.
Mr. Tachikawa discussed countermeasures against cybercrime including online scam and other issues with representatives from ASEAN Member States, China, and Republic of Korea. Joint statements based on the discussions were adopted at these meetings.
Furthermore, at the 11th AMMTC+Japan, Mr. Tachikawa mentioned that the Japanese government has supported ASEANAPOL to conduct an initiative combating online scam (Study visit to National Anti-Scam Centres) this September, asthe first implementation of the SOMTC-Japan Work Plan on Cooperation to Combat Transnational Crime (2023-2027). This was appreciated by the ASEAN countries.
