Furthermore, this study visit marks the first initiative under “the SOMTC-Japan Work Plan on Cooperation to Combat Transnational Crime (2023-2027)”.
In Japan, fraud damage reached a record high last year. Amid the recent efforts for successive crackdowns on scam compounds within the ASEAN region, it is crucial for National Anti-Scam Centres to be widely established across ASEAN and for these centres to collaborate swiftly and effectively among themselves to mitigate the damage. Mission of Japan will continue to support ASEAN's endeavor to combat transnational crime looking ahead to eradicate online scams aiming further regional prosperity.
