ASEAN-Japan Business and Human Rights (BHR) Network Session Jointly Organized by UNDP

On September 16, in Bangkok, Thailand, as part of the program for the United Nations Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum, Asia-Pacific 2025, the ASEAN-Japan Business and Human Rights (BHR) Network Session “Driving Responsible Business in ASEAN: Expectations for Greater Respect of Rights and Great Prosperity Across Value Chains” was successfully implemented by UNDP, the Mission of Japan to ASEAN, the Global Compact Network Japan and the IDE-JETRO with support from the Ministry of Foreign Afairs of Japan.
 
This session featured a presentation by the Chair of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) / Representative of Malaysia to AICHR as well as a panel discussion with ASEAN and Japanese stakeholders. Discussions focused on enhancing stakeholders' understanding of implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and related laws, as well as fostering an informal network among ASEAN-Japan business stakeholders.
 
This session was implemented as part of the fulfillment of the Implementation Plan, which was adopted at the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation/ the Commemorative Summit. Ambassador Kiya of the Mission of Japan to ASEAN participated online, delivering opening remarks and a presentation aligned with the theme, and actively contributing to the discussions.
