15th AMMTC+3 and 10th AMMTC+Japan in Malacca, Malaysia

On September 11, 2025, the Fifteenth ASEAN Plus Three Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (15th AMMTC+3) and the Tenth ASEAN-Japan Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime(10th AMMTC+Japan) were held in Malacca, Malaysia. Mr. Sakai Manabu, Chairperson of the National Public Safety Commission of Japan, attended as the representative of the Japanese government.
Mr. Sakai discussed about countermeasures against trafficking in persons, terrorism, cybercrime such as online scam and other issues with representatives from ASEAN countries, China, and Republic of Korea, in accordance with the SOMTC Plus Three Work Plan on Cooperation to Combat Transnational Crime (2024–2027) and the SOMTC – Japan Work Plan on Cooperation to Combat Transnational Crime (2023 – 2027), and Joint statements based on the discussions were adopted at these meetings.
Furthermore, at the 10th AMMTC+Japan, Mr. Sakai mentioned that the Japanese Government is coordinating to support ASEANAPOL's efforts to combat online scam as part of implementing the SOMTC+Japan Work Plan. This was welcomed by the ASEAN countries.
