On 17 March, Ambassador Kiya paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN.
Ambassador Kiya conveyed Japan's continued support for ASEAN's efforts including implementation of the ‘‘Five Point Consensus’’to improve the situation in Myanmar, including through humanitarian assistance. Taking this opportunity, he explained Japan’s new contribution made on 17 March to the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) for humanitarian assistance to Myanmar through the AHA Centre.
Both sides also exchanged views on ASEAN-Japan cooperation, including the cooperation on the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP), and concurred to continue to work closely together.
