On 17 March, H.E. Mr. KIYA Masahiko, Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, attended the Opening Ceremony for the IAI Attachment Programme for Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam (CLMV) and Timor-Leste Officers at the ASEAN Secretariat (2024/2025) (*) in Jakarta, celebrating 15 Attachment Officers upon the opening of the Programme. Attendees at the ceremony included H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, as well as Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States.

We are confident that the Attachment Officers dispatched this time will contribute to ASEAN's efforts and further advance ASEAN community building.

(*) The Attachment Programme dispatches young government officials from CLMV countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam) to the ASEAN Secretariat for one year, with a view to enhancing the administrative capacities of the participants, as well as narrowing the gap between CLMV countries and the other six ASEAN countries.
From this batch, government officials from Timor-Leste have started to join the program.

The programme has fostered a number of promising officials in CLMV countries over the past years.  The Government of Japan supports the programme through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).
