Reception for Participants and Supporters of the Attachment Programme

On 20 November, Ambassador Kiya hosted a reception at his residence for participants of the Attachment Programme* and its supporters. Four additional participants from Lao PDR, who are expected to support next year's chairmanship year after returning to their home countries, were also invited.
The reception was attended by H.E. Satvinder Singh, DSG for ASEAN Economic Community and H.E. Ekkaphab Phanthavong, DSG for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, as well as by those who have participated in the Attachment Programme in the past and are currently working at the ASEAN Secretariat and the CLMV's Permanent Missions to ASEAN. The participants deepened their friendship on this occasion.
(*) The Attachment Programme dispatches young government officials from CLMV countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Viet Nam) to the ASEAN Secretariat for one year, with a view to enhancing administrative capacities of the participants, as well as narrowing the gap between CLMV countries and other six ASEAN countries.  The programme has fostered a number of promising officials in CLMV countries for the past years.  The Government of Japan supports the programme through Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).
