The 15th Dialogue between the Secretary-General of ASEAN and FJCCIA

On August 2, the 15th Dialogue between the Federation of Japanese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of ASEAN (FJCCIA) and the Secretary-General of ASEAN was held in a hybrid format at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, with FJCCIA Chairman Hiroyuki Ueda and ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn in attendance.
 
Ambassador KIYA also attended the dialogue and delivered remarks. During his speech he stated the importance of business communities’ engagement to further strengthen ASEAN-Japan cooperation in the occasion of the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation this year.
 
During the dialogue the FJCCIA presented the "Requests and proposals from Japanese businesses within ASEAN (2023)," a compilation of requests from Japanese companies in the ASEAN region with the aim of improving business environment in ASEAN for Japanese companies.
 
Secretary-General Kao acknowledged the immense contributions of Japanese companies to the development of ASEAN, and recognised this dialogue as an important platform to realise various ASEAN-led initiatives. In addition, he expressed his expectation to further cooperation among ASEAN and Japanese companies, especially in the fields of (1) sustainable development, (2) digital economy, (3) open innovation across borders, where ASEAN and Japan agreed on the direction to take.
