Ambassador’s Commendation Ceremony for Professor NISHIMURA Hidetoshi, former President of ERIA

On 3 July, Ambassador Kiya presented Ambassador's Commendation to Professor NISHIMURA Hidetoshi, the former President of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), at a ceremony held at the Ambassador's residence.
In his remarks, Ambassador Kiya commended Professor Nishimura's career and achievements, underlining his role in expanding ERIA's contributions to ASEAN-led fora and other platforms such as G7 and G20.
Following the commendation, Professor Nishimura extended his appreciation to the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Member States as well as all Dialogue Partners, and reflected on various challenges he faced and cooperation with them throughout his 15-year tenure as the President of ERIA. In addition, he remarked on his expectations for his successor, Professor WATANABE Tetsuya, and on ASEAN’s further development.
The reception was attended by a number of guests including Dr Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN; Deputy Secretaries-General of ASEAN; Permanent Representatives to ASEAN; as well as diplomatic missions of participating countries in ERIA; all giving praise to Professor Nishimura’s achievements.
