The 15th ASEAN and Japan Transport Ministers Meeting

The 15th ASEAN and Japan Transport Ministers Meeting (15th ATM+Japan) was held on 13 October 2017 in Singapore. Mr. Hiroshi Narahira, Vice-Minister for International Affairs, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, attended the meeting as co-chair.
The meeting endorsed the ASEAN-Japan Transport Partnership* Work Plan for 2017-2018 to further promote “quality transport” in ASEAN. The new Work Plan includes new initiatives such as the “ASEAN-Japan Cold Chain Logistics Project”, “Development of Guidelines for Maintenance of Navigation Channels in ASEAN”, and “Development of Guidelines for Safety Measures with Ships’ Routeing”.
* The ASEAN-Japan Transport Partnership, established in 2003, is a framework to enhance cooperation between ASEAN and Japan in the transport sector.
The meeting adopted the Joint Ministerial Statement for the 15th ATM+Japan.
