3rd Lecture and Demonstration of Japanese cuisine at the ASEAN Secretariat

On February 6, 2020, the Mission of Japan to ASEAN held the 3rd Lecture and Demonstration of Japanese cuisine at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, focusing on “Dashi stock”, as a project for ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation.

 

H.E. Mr. CHIBA Akira, Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, and other designated guests delivered their opening remarks. Then Mr. MORITA Atsushi, the chef of Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, provided a lecture and demonstration of Japanese dashi stock. Foods using dashi stock were also provided to participants for their tasting, in cooperation with Mr. SAWAYANAGI Kazuharu, Japanese chef of Ryotei Aoi at the Le Meridien Jakarta, and Japanese companies and agents.

 

Approximately 200 guests, including H.E. Tran Duc Binh, the Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to ASEAN, as the country coordinator for Japan, H.E. Mr. Michael Tene, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs, and H.E. Dr. Aladdin Rillo, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Economic Community, participated in the event. Ms. Melody Nurramdhani Laksani, who was nominated as the Japan-ASEAN Goodwill Ambassador on Food and Agriculture by the Japanese Government in 2018, also took part in and brought excitement to the event.
